Photography
Students are instructed in various photographic techniques and are encouraged to utilize the aesthetics of their surroundings. Students explore conventional and digital photography, along with darkroom and digital editing techniques. Student photography is displayed in public exhibitions. Up to eighteen students are accepted.
Application Requirements:
1) Call the Oklahoma Arts Institute office at (405) 321-9000 to schedule an interview. Interview spaces fill quickly. Click here for interview dates and locations.
2) Download and submit a complete application.
Interview Guidelines:
Please arrive early to check in. You must also bring the following items to your interview:
* A portfolio of 6 - 8 conventional and/or digital photographs, with each print clearly marked ON THE BACK with your name. Photos must have been taken after June 28, 2009. Conventional photographs must be 8” x 10” black and white prints in white mats that you have shot, developed, and printed. Digital photographs may be color and/or black and white images that you captured, adjusted, and printed. Digital images must be printed on photo-quality paper, a maximum of 8.5” x 11”, and displayed in white mats. The outside dimensions of all matted photos must be no larger than 11" x 14". The Oklahoma Arts Institute will retain your portfolio for adjudication.
* If you would like your portfolio returned, you have two options. 1) At the audition, you can purchase a return envelope and shipping from the Oklahoma Arts Institute for $10 (cash, check, or money order). You may NOT provide your own envelope and/or shipping. 2) You can pick up your portfolio at the Oklahoma Arts Institute administrative office in Nomran from April 1 - June 1, 2010. Portfolios that have no been picked up by June 1 will be discarded. The Oklahoma Arts Institute is not responsible for damage or loss.
Please note: If selected, each photography student is required to bring a digital camera capable of manual exposure control and 10 rolls of black and white film to the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute. A 35 mm film camera is strongly recommended, but not required.
